Students in Balaoan, Santol, and San Fernando City, La Union will soon benefit from additional classrooms and a gymnasium after the completion and turnover of eight classrooms and a covered school court worth PHP24 million from the provincial government.

The newly completed infrastructure includes a two-story building with four classrooms at Bungol National High School in Balaoan, four classrooms at the La Union Special School for Culture and Arts (LUSSCA) in Barangay Manggaan, Santol, and a school-covered court with a stage in Barangay Cadaclan, San Fernando City.

“Education remains to be a cornerstone in public service. We reaffirm our commitment to holistic education and a conducive learning environment,” La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David said in a statement on Wednesday.

A total of PHP19.1 million was allocated for the classrooms, benefiting more than 300 students, while PHP4.8 million was earmarked for the covered court.

Each classroom can accommodate 35 to 40 students.

“We proposed for the resumption of the construction of a school building project that has been stalled for quite a time but the provincial government gave us even more with four new classrooms,” LUSSCA Principal Dr. Marissa Antolin said in an interview. (PNA)
